Saturday, July 28th Top 10 Trial
KYB MORIWAKI MOTUL RACING will Start from 9th Grid for the Suzuka 8 Hours Race
2017-2018 FIM World Endurance Series Final Round the Suzuka 8 Hours Race is now on Saturday and the Top 10 Trial took place. The sudden hurricane that is about to strike Suzuka is starting to arrive at slower speed than expected, affecting the track condition by heavy rain from the morning. With the rain the 4 Hours race started and by the end of 1st hour the rain had gradually faded and actually started to dry the track.
With this very unstable condition the Top 10 Trial became a 10 team qualifying session. Meaning the condition may change if the bikes went out one at a time so to be fair and equal, all 10 teams go out on the track at the same time to grab the best time possible. In the free practice session that took place just before the Top 10 Trial, KYB MORIWAKI MOTUL RACING placed 4th on the chart with a time of 2.08.889. Then in half past 3 in the afternoon, the 40 minute qualifying session for top 10 teams had begun. KYB MORIWAKI MOTUL RACING set-up their bikes towards the race for tomorrow meaning that the bike is not setup for qualifying. With that said, Yuki Takahashi and Ryuichi Kiyonari goes out to the track to see how the bike will behave. Kiyonari marked 2.08.3 and Takahashi marked 2.08.177 and placed KYB MORIWAKI MOTUL RACING 9th on the grid for tomorrow’s 8 Hours race.
Despite having to expect the hurricane, the weather condition had become dry from the afternoon and at this rate, there could be anything possible and the hurricane will definitely affect the race outcome and even the schedule itself. Whatever the condition maybe, Moriwaki Spirit is to do your best in any condition given and we will give the best for the race for tomorrow.
“I checked up on the tyres for tomorrow and the feeling of the bike before having to attack. The session went smooth without any problems however, when you look at the time difference between us, it seems to be that we are in a difficult situation. I just separated myself from qualifying mode and race mode, for today I was in race mode so it was good for me to be able to check up on the bike for tomorrow’s race.”
“The bike felt really different even though the temperature itself had not changed a lot and it was hard for me to adjust. I was aiming to be in the 2.07.5 but I could not make it. The difference in clear between the top riders and I am actually disappointed. However, this disappointed feeling will change to my fighting spirit and I will not lose as regards to feelings. I was not able to grab a good timed lap however, the feeling towards the race is very positive. I have no idea what the condition will be for tomorrow but I will do my best and try to give back my team a good result tomorrow.”
